Why your fridge isn’t cooling — 7 common reasons
A quick list you can check before scheduling a visit. If nothing helps — book a service, I’ll come and fix it.
- Dirty condenser coils. Vacuum and brush them — this alone can restore cooling.
- Blocked vents. Don’t overpack the fridge; keep air paths clear between fridge & freezer.
- Wrong temperature settings or demo mode. Reset to factory defaults, then set 37°F/0–4°C.
- Bad door gaskets. If a dollar bill slides out easily — the gasket leaks and needs replacement.
- Evaporator fan not spinning. Listen for unusual silence or tapping noises.
- Defrost system failure. Frost build-up on the back panel suggests heater/thermostat/board issues.
- Compressor or start device. If the unit clicks and stops — it’s time for diagnostics.
